Care

Healthy goats eat well, chew their cud, shiny hair coat, social, and have bright clear eyes.

Goats are ruminants, animals with a four-compartment stomach, as are deer and sheep. The compartments are the reticulum, rumen, opossum and abomasum (or true stomach)

In ruminants, feed first undergoes microbial digestion in the reticulum and rumen.

This digestion allows ruminants to consume and utilize grass, hay, leaves and browse.

The greatest assest goats have is the ability to utilize woody plants and weeds, not typically consumed by cattle or sheep.

Goats tend to browse rather than graze, seeking variation of trees and shrubs.

The vaccine commonly known as CDT or CD&T is a vaccination for Clostridium perfringens type C + D and tetanus. This is the vaccine that everyone uses who raises goats.

Does /bucks are vaccinated yearly. Kids are vaccinated at 5 to 6 weeks and given a booster 3 to 4 weeks later.
